 ## How to calculate surface square footage

It’s fairly simple to figure your square footage. In the example shown, we will calculate the square footage for each section and then add them together to get your total project square footage.

You can use our square footage calculator below to speed up the process. It will keep track of your sections for you (make sure to not refresh the page because your calculations will be lost). Once you’ve calculated the square footage of each section, add each section together to get your total project square footage. This will give you an idea of how big a kit you will need. #### Example:

Section #1 is 70 inches wide and 32 inches high. If we enter 70 into the width field and 32 into height field in the calculator below, we get 15.56 square feet.

Section # 2 is 30 inches wide and 84 inches high. We enter 30 into the width field and 84 into height field in the calculator below, we get 17.5 square feet.

We add the two sections together to get the total square feet. 15.5 + 17.5 = 33 sq ft.  A small kit would be recommended for this vanity.  A small kit covers 35 sq/ft of cabinet with 2 coats of paint.

It’s best to draw your kitchen layout on a piece of paper. Then you can write measurements down and just plug numbers into the calculator.
